The AdSense publisher support announced in the Inside AdSense Google group a noteworthy update: now you can place up to three AdSense link units on a page. Until now, this number was limited to one.
I didn’t use link units on this blog until now, but I think to give it a try, to see how they perform. I don’t think I’ll make use of all three of them, because I think that using too many AdSense units on a page attracts a decrease of the CPC, due to the fact that the best paying ads are displayed in the first AdSense module of a page. By first, I mean that module that comes first in the source code of your page: if the sidebar comes first, then the module in the sidebar will be considered first, although it might be displayed below the fold.
Do you imagine how MFAs will look now with a total of 6 AdSense modules allowed?
I think that’s the list type unit? You only earn when they click on a sub-link don’t you? It’s a tough one – I only use one of these page anyhow, they are good because of the keywords they use, but bad because you need a second click to earn anything. I would be interested to hear other peoples views on these. I use a banner type across the top of my blog, and then box-types in the side bar of my proper website (but only AFTER the other ads).
I’m here ‘cos Im reviewing you for my blog today, I’ll comment again when the review is up.
Yes, Jay, this is the link type unit. I’m not so fond of it either. However, it is good because it fits very well in small spaces. Thank you for reviewing my blog.
I concur with your views on the link unit.
Your review on my blog is posted (I review any old stuff for OurBlogReview…I only review the sites I actually like on my OWN blog…) http://munny4hunny.blogspot.com/2007/06/alltipsandtricks-review.html
You are not obliged to reciprocate… Jay
I have not had any luck at all with link units. I woul love for someone to help me optimize them, but my efforts have never worked. I think my readers just are not into the 2-clicks it takes.
