It happens from various reasons, that our vision gets bad. Once we notice that, the first thing that comes to our mind is to go to see a doctor, for an eye examination and maybe for eyeglasses. Some of us might consider surgery as an option.

The problem is that glasses or contact lenses do not improve the eyesight; they just correct a focalization fault, allowing us to have a better vision. In fact, the problem is not cured, and even worse, it advances in time, so at regular intervals, new eyeglasses prescription becomes necessary.
Obviously, wearing eyeglasses and using contact lenses can complicate your life. In fact some people actually feel nausea and experience random headaches from contacts or eyeglasses, at least during the first few weeks or even months.

I will describe here some simple exercises which will show you how to improve your eyesight:
1. Hold a pencil straight out in front of you at arm’s length. Focus both eyes on the tip of the pencil. Slowly bring the pencil in toward your face, keeping your eyes focused on the tip until it touches your nose. Now slowly move the pencil back to arm’s length, still focusing on the tip. Try to keep the tip in focus at all times. As your eye muscles become stronger, this exercise will get easier.
2. Hold a pencil at arm’s length and look straight ahead at all times. Do not move your head during this exercise. Slowly move the pencil upward until you can no longer see the point with your peripheral vision. Now move it slowly back down to center–keep focusing–and all the way to the right until you can no longer see the point, and back to the center. Then go all the way down until you no longer see the point, bring it back up to the center and do the same thing going to the left and back to the center.
3. Place the palms of your hands against the orbits of your eye without putting pressure on the eyeballs. Apply enough pressure so that you have total darkness in both eyes. Keep your eyes closed and covered. Look up as far as you can. Now look straight ahead. Then look as far as you can to the right and go back to the center. Now look straight down as far as you can and back to the center. Now go all the way to the left and back to the center.

I left for the end the best method of all:

Find some nice stereograms and watch them for about 10-20 minutes a day. If you don’t know what a stereogram is and how to see it, you can find useful info at eyetricks.com. They have a very good collection and clear instructions for beginners. You have to know that seeing the images require a lot of practice in the beginning, until you learn where to focus your sight.
I will not include here any stereogram, because in order to see it properly, it has to be big and it would make the site much slower.
All I want to tell you is that stereogram watching works great. After one month of regular practice I compared my eyesight with the eyesight of my friends and everybody was amazed that I could see details from a distance that made all of them see only blurred shapes.

Besides, it is a lot of fun!
