This is my entry for the Tutorial Group Writing Project, at The Writers Manifesto.
Many bloggers are also StumbleUpon members. You read their blogs, you stumble or review their posts, but how often do you check on their SU page? Maybe you do. At least, I’m checking everyday the stumbles of a few people, because they seem to have a real talent to discover interesting sites.
Wouldn’t you like to be announced every time they wrote a StumbleUpon review? Or every time they gave a Thumb Up to a page?
This is how to subscribe to your favorite stumblers’ pages in your feed reader:
- Go to the desired stumbler’s homepage and click on the avatar. You’ll be taken to the “about” page. At the bottom left, you’ll see the stumbler ID. Copy it.
- Type in your browser the following line (make sure you replace my stumbler ID I used in this example with the one you copied:
http://www.stumbleupon.com/syndicate.php?stumbler=1677878&comments=1
This will subscribe you to the reviews on your stumbler’s homepage.
If you want to subscribe to all stumbled pages of that person, drop “&comments=1”:

I learned this tip from my SU friend, http://etresoi.stumbleupon.com/, whose pages I wanted to subscribe and I didn’t know how to do it.
Do you know other SU tips you could share?
Hi Simonne,
That’s one cool entry I will have to study in detail as I haven’t got much of an idea about Stumble Upon. So thanks for this great entry and good luck with it. 🙂
Monika
Thank you, Monika! I hope your readers who use StumbleUpon will like this tip. Good luck with the group project!
Nice tip Simonne. So basically, a way to have a feed subscription to a StumbleUpon bookmark list! Nice.
Do you know if StumbleUpon has a page dedicated to each website? Like, for example, if AllTipsAndTricks.com is a site, then StumbleUpon having a page which lists all the posts on that site which have been stumbled? That would be a very good way to tack which new pages are being stumbled on specific sites, including our own.
Hi Bes, I have thought about that many times too.. guess they don’t keep track of sites and all of its pages stumbled… would be a nice feature though… there are times I don’t even know my article got stumbled unless I check the reviews for each one!
Simonne.. this tip is very useful and I have some subscriptions this way but I am getting a bit overwhelmed with everything i have subscribed now 🙂 purge time!!
Oh yeah, that’s a good one! I’m with Pearl there — time to do a feed purge, to make room for more goodies like yours. 😉
Bes, I didn’t think of that, but it would be interesting to have such a possibility.
Pearl, I also have a huge bunch of feeds in my reader (which I never remember to read – I’m quite old fashioned, but trying to keep pace with times).
Jen, thank you for your nice thoughts and welcome here. I’ll try to write in such a way that my readers won’t unsubscribe from this blog 🙂
Actually, it looks like there’s an easier way to do this now. On a stumbler’s home page, look at the bottom right and you’ll see RSS icons for reviews and for favorites. This is using the new profile view for StumbleUpon; it may be different using the classic view.
Thank you CSS, your way is much easier. I’ve checked the classic view: those buttons are available 🙂
This method is still valid, except there is one more leap to go through to get to the Stumbler ID.
– Visit the stumbler’s home page
– Right click on the logo and select “show image” (or similar, depending on your browser)
– In the address bar you’ll find something like http://cdn.stumble-upon.com/mainpics/12345678.jpg
Copy the number that you find before .jpg (in this case 12345678) and paste it at the end of the link to paste in Google reader:
http://www.stumbleupon.com/syndicate.php?stumbler=12345678
Enjoy 🙂
